Communities - Web 2.0

I built my first community site back in 1998. Back then nobody was talking about community sites or Web 2.0. It was a dating site, but with a twist. The site was called Relation, and apart from the dating part of the site, it also allowed the users to form relations between each other (family, friends, etc.). What linkedin.com and facebook.com does today, is what Relation did in 1998.
Today, almost all websites have some kind of user-generated content, ie. comments from users on news websites, blogs, reviews from users on amazon.com, etc.
Some websites are almost exclusively made up of content from the users, ie. Wikipedia, YouTube and Flickr. All websites where the content is user-generated, but monitored by site administrators.

UGC: User-generated content (UGC) refers to various kinds of media content that are produced by end-users, (as opposed to traditional media producers such as professional writers, publishers, journalists, licensed broadcasters and production companies). Source: Wikipedia.
